Veiled Glow / 匿 光

01 / THE QUESTION

What does the design respond to?

This apartment renovation explores more than a style. With an urban boutique atmosphere in mind, the project balances function, visual proportion and layers of material.

02 / DESIGN DECISIONS

Making atmosphere through decisions.

01

Light sources recede

Integrate linear lighting into joints so indirect illumination builds spatial layers.

02

Tune the material language

Cream walls, muted grey volumes and stone patterns create restrained contrasts.

03

Make atmosphere tangible

Use proportion and layered detail to bring elegance into everyday experience.

DESIGN NOTE

Light is a spatial material.

Before adding more fixtures, it is worth asking what the light should reveal first.

Begin with daylight

Observe windows, sightlines and everyday routes. Brightness is only one consideration; how light rests on plaster, wood, stone and fabric also changes how a home feels.

Integrate lighting with construction

Veiled Glow integrates linear lighting into joints. As the source recedes, surfaces and spatial outlines become more apparent. This is a project-specific strategy, rather than a universal formula.

Return the image to daily life

A photograph captures one moment. A fuller design considers daytime, night, reading and rest. Value emerges in the transitions between them.
